• Module description This module is aimed at total beginners in language. The units place strong emphasis on communicational skills to facilitate students job/internship opportunities, daily life and working in a hospitality environment. The learning outcomes of this module relate to the European Language Portfolio level A1. On successful completion of this module, students will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases, and be able to interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
  • Module description This module is aimed at students with prior language training, corresponding to the European Language Portfolio at level A1/A2 (basic user). This module is aimed at students with a minimum of 80 hours of prior language training, or on successful completion of Level I above. The course places strong emphasis on communicational skills to facilitate students job/internship opportunities, daily life and working in a hospitality environment. On successful completion of this module, students will be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to most areas of most immediate relevance; be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring direct exchange of information and describe aspects of his/her background and immediate environment.

The module places strong emphasis on communication skills to enhance students’ employability within the international service sector. This module is aimed at students with a minimum of 120 hours of prior language training, or on successful completion of Level II. On successful completion of this module students will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered; deal with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling in an area where the language is spoken; read and understand basic informational material; communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities.
